What will I learn in this course?
- This is a hands-on workshop with an intent to get one started with building their own wooden items. It is an introduction to the age old craft of (handmade) carpentry. We begin the course with a detailed theory session on the material i.e wood. Everything from how to identify and application of various species, where to source, how to and how much to buy for your project is covered. We then discuss project planning, use of tools and brief you about design with emphasis on making strong wooden objects.
Do I get to build something?
- Yes! This is a hands-on course which means you will be crafting an item from scratch. We spent 1.5 days on the build after half a day of theory. You take with you the object you make.

What is age limit for this workshop?
- We welcome participants from 16 years and above to join independently for this course. Participants younger than 16 need to be accompanied by parents.
What if I miss the session because of an emergency?
- If you are in Chennai:
You are welcome to attend another scheduled session. Your ticket is valid for 3 months or 3 sessions. We conduct one session every month. If you are unable to join on any of these, you can transfer your ticket transfer to a friend . A booking will expire after this time period.
- in cities other than Chennai:
since we travel to make this course available in your city, we urge you to not miss it. If you do, unfortunately we cannot help you.
What is frequency of these sessions?
In Chennai - the course is conducted every month tentatively on the first weekend. We update the schedule in advance for 3 months.
In other cities across India - we cannot say, we may visit again or may not. If we do, it is usually once a year.
Is cancellation allowed?
You may cancel but we do not offer a refund unpon cancellation.
Will there be power tools?
There will be some power tools but 90% of the project will be built using hand tools. This course emphaises on HANDMADE furniture.
