Beginner’s Woodworking Class:

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at woodworking but didn’t know where to start, this is the class for you. Our Beginner’s Woodworking Workshop is designed to introduce you to the world of woodworking in a fun, hands-on, and supportive environment.

No prior experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and willingness to learn!

In this course, you'll build a strong foundation in woodworking by learning essential skills that will serve you for years to come. From selecting the right wood to making your first project, you’ll gain the confidence and knowledge to take on your own DIY woodwork at home and make more.....

What You’ll Learn:

  • Introduction to Woodworking: Understand the basics of woodworking, including how to use essential tools safely and effectively.

  • Wood Selection & Care: Learn how to choose the right type of wood for your projects, and how to work with common wood defects.

  • Tool Basics: Get hands-on experience with hand tools (saws, hammers, planes, chisels) and power tools (drills, routers, sanders) to create precise cuts and finishes.

  • Essential Joinery Skills: Learn the fundamental woodworking joints, including lap joints, mortise and tenon, dovetail joint, box joint and more.

  • Planning Your Projects: We’ll walk you through how to choose and plan a simple, achievable project—whether it’s a small shelf, a keepsake box, or a basic piece of furniture.

  • Measuring & Cutting: Learn how to measure accurately and make your cuts with precision.

  • Sanding & Finishing: Understand the process of smoothing and finishing your project, and learn about the tools and materials that will give your work a professional touch.

  • Safety First: Learn how to work safely with both hand and power tools, including proper techniques to avoid common woodworking injuries.

PROJECTS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE DURING AND POST WORKSHOP

Suggested projects: Boxes, organizers for desk/jewelry/watch/make-up, etc., laptop stands, footstools, lamps (floor/table), planters, pegboards, and spice racks that the participant must choose from the design below. Minor changes in the given design are possible. These are curated keeping a beginner's skill level into consideration and that design allows flexibility of using 2 - 4 types of joints within the making of one object which allows for maximum learning.

At the end of this class, you’ll walk away with:

  • A completed, handmade project that you can proudly display or use in your home.

  • The ability to confidently select and work with wood, choose the right tools for your projects, and tackle future woodworking projects on your own.

  • A clear understanding of basic woodworking principles, joinery, sanding, and finishing techniques—skills that will set you up for success in all future projects.

As a part of your class, you’ll receive a Woodworking Resources Guide, which includes detailed recommendations on where to buy materials, what tools to invest in, and tips for setting up a home workshop—all tailored to beginners.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have all the tools to start your woodworking journey with confidence. Whether you want to make furniture, home décor, or start a new hobby, we’ll show you how to do it right from the very beginning.
