Purple Dandelion is a wooden botanical artwork featuring dandelion flowers, smaller blooms and foliage carved into a teak wood mosaic background.
The pieces of teak are arranged into a repeating geometric pattern, giving the background a quiet structure. The flowers and leaves are carved individually into the wood and filled with coloured powder resin.
The resin gives the flowers their colour while retaining some transparency, so that the depth of the carving and the texture of the wood can still be seen through it. The effect changes gently as the light falls across the surface.
The fine stems and smaller flowers contrast with the stronger lines of the mosaic underneath. As with the other works in the Malar collection, the piece brings together woodwork, carving and resin, while allowing the natural grain and variations of the teak to remain part of the finished artwork.

Handmade product
Each piece in the Malar collection is made by hand, from arranging the individual pieces of the wood mosaic to carving the flowers and filling them with resin. Small variations in the grain, carving, colour and resin are a natural part of the process.
